Paddle steamer Waverley visiting Dundee today for refuelling.
From my vantage point near the Tayport High Light. The Waverley was hidden by rocks further along the shore as she passed through the shipping channel but when she did finally appear, a fisherman made an interesting foreground.
She is the world’s last seagoing paddle steamer.
Passing Broughty Castle where there were quite a few people watching. Not surprising as her last visit to Dundee was in 1982.
She was built on the Clyde in 1947 and was saved from scrapping in 1974 when she was gifted to the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society.
The Waverley is 73 metres long but looks tiny compared to Jack up rig Valaris Viking.

A closer look. The Waverley left Ayr on the other side of Scotland a couple of days ago and has almost circumnavigated the coast of Scotland. Whereas the fuel tanker took a much shorter land route from Campbeltown.
